Q: What is the Asheville Tool Library?
A: The Asheville Tool Library is a place for community members in Western North Carolina to borrow a variety of tools including hand tools, power tools, yard equipment, camping gear, and more.
Q: How does it work?
A: Each individual who would like to borrow tools needs to get an annual membership and sign a waiver to borrow tools. This can be done here or the first time you come in.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Our annual membership fees are $50-$150 sliding scale. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Contact us directly for more information about scholarships.

Q: Where is the Tool Library?
A: We are located on the South Slope at 133 Church Street. We are at the base of the OpenSpace AVL building.
Q: What are your hours?
A: We officially opened in April 2016! View our hours
Q: How long can I borrow a tool?
A: Members can borrow tools for up to 7 days at a time.
Q: Are there late fees?
A: Yes, there is a $1/day late fee per tool.
Q: Can I renew my tools?
A: At this time, we do not offer renewals on tools.
Q: How do I get involved with volunteering?
A: We’re so glad you asked! We rely on volunteers to keep our organization running. Please contact us with information about what you would like to do and your time availability.
